So I check 3 windows all looking in different directions from Sydney and totally write out the sunset as a washout - black clouds all the way to the horizon… Then some WANKER moves them and I wake up half way through easily the best sunset we’ve had all year. Then I rush so much to somewhere worth shooting I forget half my gear, have to abandon finding a decent location as the light is...

Ended up wide awake at sunrise for no apparent reason, so I figured I’d go for it. Got up the hill around about the same time I realised I had no batteries in my camera as they’re all on charge at the moment. Had the option of *Will show you later ;) * but decided against as *my later part will explain*…
That sunrise was so much better than every sunset so far this year. So...

That was actually amazing. I’ve just sat for about 30 minutes in total silence. One of the most profound experiences of my life.
For those of you that didn’t recognise the shot, that was a still from ‘The Lovely Bones.’ I couldn’t care less what you think of films of books or books of films or whatever. As a standalone entity, that was absolute perfection....

Unfortunately I was significantly under-prepared what with waking up 10 minutes after the sun hit the horizon (drove up a big hill to chase it haha!) and having (in scouting for locations before) totally misjudged where the sun would be setting. Had a nice RAPE field lined up to have a play with a reverse GND filter I’ve been meaning to use for...
